Bio

Seze Devres, of Turkish descent, was raised in New York City. She has been creating camera-less photographs (photograms) that explore the potentials of light and color through abstraction since 1995. She has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in the United States, Turkey, and France. Devres' photogram process has gained worldwide recognition and was highlighted in the photo textbook "Exploring Color Photography."

While continuing her creative work through her artistic and academic endeavors, Seze works as a freelance designer and commercial photographer. She creates photographs, web sites and promotional print material for small businesses and artists. Seze is equally as passionate about music as visual art, and has created special limited edition releases for many sound artists and record labels. For years Seze has been photographing parties, concerts, and social events in New York City on a regular basis. Since 2006, she has been invited every summer to photograph the hugely successful museum parties for the PS1/MoMA Warm Up events in Long Island City, NY. Every week, she co-hosts and photographs the guests of The Bunker, a world renowned weekly techno party in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Seze's images and designs have graced dozens of galleries, record covers, posters, flyers, magazines, galleries, and web sites.

In June 2007, Devres curated an exhibition on contemporary psychedelic art called "Love's Secret Domain" in Brooklyn.

Seze has taught Photography and New Media Art at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, and International Center of Photography and 3rd Ward in New York City. She studied anatomy at the Art Students' League as a teenager, received a BA from Bard College (double major in Photography and Sculpture), and completed her Masters in Photography & Related Media at the School of Visual Arts, where she was awarded the Aaron Siskind Scholarship/Chairman's Grant.

According to all aerodynamic laws, the bumblebee cannot fly.
Its body weight is not the right proportion to its wingspan.
Ignoring these laws, the bee flies anyway.
Take what you have and rearrange it so you have something better.
